My name is Jason Yost and I am a licensed USCG captain, owner and operator of this operation, and a native of southeastern Virginia. I have fished my whole life in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, and have always enjoyed light tackle fishing, also getting into saltwater fly fishing in the later years. l’ve also fished several years offshore in Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks, and while I have a deep love for this type of fishing, there is something special about the quietness of poling around the marsh hunting for redfish and trout. My trips are geared to light tackle and fly fishing, and also tarpon in the heat of the summer. Tarpon fishing this far north can be very challenging to say the least, and some long hours involved to hopefully get a shot at a fish, but I’m always willing to chase them as hard as anyone is willing to tolerate, and will have bookings specifically for this during the mid to late summer. I‘m a career firefighter for the City of Suffolk and have been doing this career for 25 years now and will be transitioning to full time guiding when I decide to retire from the greatest job in the world.

Our fishing platform is a 2023 Mitzi 17' Tournament skiff. It is a very stable and comfortable boat for shallow inshore fishing with light tackle and fly fishing in mind for the angler. It is powered by a 60 hp Suzuki with a comfortable cruising speed to get to the fish. We provide top-of-the-line fishing equipment and gear for our guests, and all of the spinning and fly reels are top of the line and the rods are custom. We also provide safety gear and equipment to ensure your safety on the water.
Where We Fish
We offer customized fishing trips that cater to your preferences and requirements. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced angler, we have the perfect trip for you. Our trips are designed to provide an unforgettable light tackle and fly fishing experience, and I will be fishing the local waterways in SE Virginia launching from area ramps in the area determined for the day of fishing. We fish from the lower James River to as far north as the York River entrance and Oyster on the seaside of the Eastern Shore.
